Damn you Modcloth!
Their dresses are SO PRETTY. I’ve vowed not to spend anymore money on clothes this month because we just booked to go to Krakow in March, then we’re going to Bruges (Yes, I’ve seen In Bruges, so I can’t bloody wait for my friend Ciaran to dish out the In Bruges quotes in his Irish accent) and theeeen Berlin and Italy! Phew! All that travelling!
But it’s exceptionally hard to resist some of these beauties :
I’ve been looking a lot into drafting patterns lately, partly because of the cost incurred with buying patterns and partly because I’d like to see if I can draft something myself from scratch. I think the last dress, Pleats and Thank You, is doable without much pattern-making myself, but I wonder if I could achieve the blue Dress Side Story and the Floral Valentine dress by making a bodice block and adjusting it? I did notice that Dress Side Story is a little like a casual version of Burdastyle’s Madison, so if I mess it up I know where to turn!
Though that means I’ll have to stop being lazy and make a muslin, it could be worth a try! I have been wanting to set myself a little goal of making some cute dresses/skirts for my trip to Italy. As it’s my 21st, and we’re most likely to go to Milan, I want to be all chic and that! I’ll update you guys on any progress and/or blunders I make along the way. Any readers taken the plunge and tried their hand at pattern drafting? Was it a success?
