Can't Say Strawberry

I sew. I write. I speak German. Just don't ask me to say strawberry!

Back at home!

January 6th, 2010 · 2 Comments · Uncategorized

I should have known really that I wasn’t going to get back! Bit concerned for my bank balance now due to the fact that I’d forked out 100 euros for tickets to Augsburg for tomorrow, which obviously now I can’t use because I’m not flying until Monday! Not entirely sure what to do now.

Getting home was a nightmare of lugging suitcases around London – it’s tedious when you’re doing it and it’ll be tedious if I describe it. Hmm, tedious may be today’s word of the day!

Thankfully my mentor’s OK with me coming back on Monday instead, so the only worry really is the money. Worst comes to worst  I’ll have to just pay off my credit card a lot later than hoped and go see Cat some other time. Has anyone ever encountered monetary problems like this due to flight delays? I’m hoping to make an insurance claim, or at least Deutsche Bahn can tell me what to do. Not holding out much hope though. It seems that I’m going to have to pay for Easyjet not doing their jobs properly. If it were just snow I’d just say that it was hard luck and be bummed out – but the fact is they messed up Monday night, I don’t know how, but it was definitely down to them and no one from Easyjet explained to us why our flight was cancelled. I wish I could say I wouldn’t fly with them again, but that’s probably not the case because I can’t afford more expensive airlines.

On the plus side! Being at home means MORE TIME WITH THE OVERLOCKER! The overlocker I haven’t mentioned actually, golly gosh. Lack of camera (looooooooooong story involving the SD Card holder) so here’s a photo from t’internet to whet your appetites :

overlocker I hope I’ll have time to run up another project on it before I head back to Germany. I’m thinking the Melissa Dress variation – I made a complete and utter mess with my lace fabric attempting to make a NYE dress and I hope to salvage some of the remains for the top part of the pattern, paired perhaps with a nice black jersey on the bottom. Can I finish it before Monday? Well I do love a challenge…
